Theater of the Sea is an educational and entertaining marine animal park where performances are up close and personal. At Theater of the Sea you can swim with dolphins, sea lions, and stingrays in their natural salt water lagoons through our interactive swim programs. The lagoons, and lush, tropical gardens at are home to Atlantic bottlenose dolphins, California sea lions, sea turtles, tropical and game fish, sharks, stingrays, alligators, marine invertebrates, colorful parrots, and birds-of-prey.

The staff works hard to provide a wonderful home for the animals while sharing them with visitors in ways that inspire awareness and sensitivity towards animals, the environment, and conservation issues.

While some of their animals were collected and others were born here, many are non releasable as a result of imprinting and/or injuries sustained in the wild. The health and well being of the animals takes precedence over all other interests and their care and maintenance is supported by patronage alone.

“Women Divers: A Military and Civilian Perspective” May 16 2012

Seminar presented by Karen Kohanowich, program officer of NOAA’s Undersea Research Program.

Karen is a pioneer for her achievements in science, salvage diving, and underwater exploration who will discuss the wide range of accomplishments of women in the sea.

She will also update attendees on an exciting initiative taking place at NOAA’S Aquarius, an underwater ocean laboratory located at a depth of 60 feet in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary.

Starts at 7 p.m. at Diving Museum, mile marker 83 in Islamorada.

The McDonald’s Faro Blanco Invitational Tarpon Tournament is here.

With a limited number of spots available, it is to your benefit to respond quickly as availability is on a first-come, first-serve basis. There were 101 people on last year’s trip and are expecting even more this year.

Any extra money over expenses from the tournament to the Ronald McDonald Summer Camp program. Last year, thanks to everyone’s participation, $47,000.00 was donated to the camp program. At last year’s Tournament, 124 tarpon were caught.

The Indigo Reef Resort will be the primary Resort again this year and they have put together a very special price for our 26th Anniversary Year.
