The Matecumbe Historical Trust will hold a Memorial Day Service beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Islamorada Hurricane Monument, Mile Marker 81.5 Overseas Highway, adjacent to the Matecumbe United Methodist Church.
The monument was dedicated in 1937 to honor the Veterans and civilians killed in the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. Irving Eyster, President of the Matecumbe Historical Trust, will make the introductory welcome presentation.
The service is open to the public. Residents and visitors are invited to attend in observance of Memorial Day.
