Time is running out to claim the $8,000 first-time homebuyers tax credit. Although there are some income restrictions, the credit is good for up to $8,000, or 10% of the purchase price, and applies to people who have not owned a home in the previous three years. After being granted a license by the U.S. Treasury, the Miami based firm TeleCuba Communications will lay a fiber optic cable between Key West and Havana.
According to the firm, the 110-mile cable will cost about $18 million and should be operational by 2011,.
TeleCuba said the installation will allow for high-speed Internet and cable television, which are currently not economicly feasible for residents of Cuba.

Fred Cabanas, who is frequently seen performing aerobatics in the skies above Key West, recently won first place at the Reno International Air Races. Flying his 1944 P-51 Mustang named American Beauty, Fred’s average speed was 363 mph over the 8.2-mile course, putting him in first place in the air show’s bronze category.
