Dive The Vandenberg With The Subtropic Dive Center

The Subtropic Dive Center offers the convenience of true ‘doorstep diving’, with their dock located directly adjacent to the shop.

Since they run three trips daily on each of their boats, you can choose to dive on a variety of sites — wrecks, reefs and experience the uniqueness of night diving.

The center also offers a daily morning trip to the Gen. Hoyt S. Vandenberg. As an artificial reef, the ship is not only a recreational resource for divers and fishermen, but serves as an underwater classroom for the Florida Keys Community College, and is a platform for ground-breaking research in reef monitoring as mandated by the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary Management Plan.

Because of the depth of this wreck, if you are an Open Water certified diver, you will need to hire a guide. All those with an advanced certification or higher are free to dive it unsupervised.

All of their rental rigs have computers for keeping a safe profile.
